Alexander Isak Robbers Ordered to Pay Only £1 Each from £1.2 Million Thefts

Individuals of an Italian family of burglars who stole more than £1.2 million worth of items, among them from ex- NUFC striker Isak, have been mandated to pay back just £1 each.

Brothers Valentino and Giacomo, their sister Jela Jovanovic and her son Charlie travelled to the northeastern of the UK to raid three houses in spring 2024.

The group of four were imprisoned for from six and 10 years in 2025.

At a criminal assets hearing at the court, Jela and the Nikolov brothers were instructed to repay £1 each while Charlie must pay over a thousand pounds.

Details of the Break-ins

The court was told the gang arrived by boat in the United Kingdom on March 27, 2024 and used a RV as their "headquarters", which they stationed at Scotch Corner and Durham service service stations while utilizing another car to scout out properties and execute thefts.

On March 31 they took over £1m of goods such as high-end fashion, purses, jewellery and a honor from a house on a street in Jesmond, Newcastle, while the owners were on holiday.

The next evening, the gang entered a house on a gated cul-de-sac in Whitburn, South Tyneside, and took designer handbags, valuables and footwear worth more than one hundred thousand pounds.

Following surveillance of Newcastle United's training ground for two days, they then struck at the home of Sweden player Mr Isak in Darras Hall on April 4, stealing ten thousand pounds in money, sixty-eight thousand pounds valued of jewelry and the player's one hundred twenty thousand pound Audi RS6.

The group, who were portrayed by the prosecution as professional touring burglars, used gloves and face coverings, turned their phones on silent as they approached their objectives and strapped a number plate, which had been taken from a auto shop in a town, on to their vehicle with elastic bands.

They were arrested in the Birmingham area on 13 April.

Court Proceedings and Rulings

Valentino had denied the burglary plot but was found guilty by the court, while his three relations had all entered guilty pleas to the same charge.

At the proceeds of crime session, prosecutor the prosecution said each of the defendants had profited from their crimes to the amount of over £1.2 million, which was based on what the victims said they had had stolen.

But Charlie Jovanovic was the sole individual found to have any money that could be "recovered", namely over a thousand pounds which had already been seized by police, the court heard, with 14 days to be spent in jail if he failed to pay.

The remaining members had no assets or property so were ordered to pay a nominal fee of £1 per person, with one week in prison the consequence if the sum was not submitted.

Judge Spragg said if they were discovered with property in the coming years, "for example operating Italy in a sports car or owning a home", prosecutors could initiate further action to "recover the amount outstanding".
