In the intensely competitive realm of video games, it's typical for new contenders to fade away as swiftly as they enter the scene.
But the latest Battlefield is aiming to alter that.
Here comes the newest release in a long-running warfare game series often positioned as a more realistic answer to Call of Duty.
The title has seldom been able to match its most famous rival in aspects of revenue or user base, but evidence points to the latest version could close the gap.
An early access session allowing gamers a opportunity to experience the release not long ago broke records, and the hype leading up to its launch has been immense.
However the project is still a major venture for developer the gaming giant, which has reportedly spent huge sums of money developing it.
Reporters have communicated to a number of the creators to learn how they hope it will succeed.
Four studios are creating the title under the collaborative banner.
This includes veteran creator the Swedish studio, based in Europe, Los Angeles-based Motive Studios and Ripple Effect Studios in North America.
Another, Criterion, is based in Guildford.
The general manager is the general manager of the two European developers, and shares with us that, in respect of what it's offering users, "the latest installment is probably unbeatable."
This title comes off the back of the sci-fi the last installment, released previously to a poor feedback it found it hard to recover from.
"We most likely would not be able to build and design this new game without the lessons we gained in Battlefield 2042," Rebecka shares with our team.
One of those lessons was to engage fans engaged from the start, and the studio started invite-only player trials in recent months.
This "reaction was incredibly encouraging," comments she.
A further missing ingredient from Battlefield 2042 was a single-player campaign, which has been reintroduced for this release.
The UK studio design director the design director is the person responsible for "ensuring those levels are as entertaining and engaging as can be for the players."
In spite of claims that the size of the project had put a strain on the various teams working together globally to develop the game, he is optimistic about the work.
"Working with different backgrounds, distinct heritages, it's a very interesting atmosphere to be part of on a regular basis," he says.
"The complete approach has been a fresh take but something very exciting because we are partnering with people from all over the world."
As for the anticipation on the developers, Fas comments: "There is stress but at the same time it's motivating.
"This is a big undertaking. It's arguably the most significant that many of us have before worked on."
This is definitely accurate of at least a single developer, VFX specialist Vlad Kokhan.
This young professional makes the lighting elements that define the mood, tone, and focus of the story mode.
He completed an training period at the developer before obtaining a job there, and presently works part-time while finishing his visual effects degree at Bournemouth University.
He says he's a dedicated enthusiast of the Battlefield series, and recalls experiencing the earlier title of the franchise at a buddy's place when he was younger.
Being on it at present, as his debut career position, "seems unreal tangible."
"It's very amazing witnessing the promotion all around," he shares.
"Realizing that I have contributed my individual work into the project is really dreamlike."
Battlefield 6's debut is expected to be a big one, with observers estimating it could sell a total of five millions {copies|units|versions
