Iran Claims Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Manama, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and continuing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the US has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the largest American base in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on Iran initiated by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.

Additional Developments

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
