'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith resumes battle with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the dramatic closing stages of his team's remarkable turnaround triumph against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith picking up a supporter's spectacles after the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a long-range shot from 25 yards, and the defender promptly hammered in the rebound before sprinting toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters mobbing the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

This sealed an unbelievable comeback given the team had trailed 2-0 midway through the second half. During the celebrations, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a spectator shouting out and Josh Key and I were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win secured a next round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. Galbraith had arguably the best view when his former team took the lead in spectacular fashion, with the attacker's long-range effort from about long distance going in via the woodwork and the City goalkeeper. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've awarded it to him for taking the effort on from that distance," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right flank after Orient changed formation. That meant facing off against Jack Grealish, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the opposition who complimented the way his former team attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they are adept at control and take the sting out of a game. You can believe you're all right and then without warning they will just thread a ball through a line without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a tough attitude and attention just to stay in the game."

New Chapter

The Welsh side sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He made a name as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has rapidly done the same in south Wales. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who previously gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in professional games on loan at his loan club from Manchester United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford, before he permanently left his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was likely a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think many athletes would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. You see few tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

He has demonstrated that maturation for both domestically and internationally, excelling for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has started the recent fixtures, including both legs games against the German national team. The ex-coach, Galbraith's ex- international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Early Days

This represents quite the ride for the youngster from the neighborhood in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who used to see his dad, Stuart, also a midfielder, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's single match for the Red Devils came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the stadium roof was sealed owing to the weather of -15C. "This represented a long trip and it was chilly," he recalls, chuckling. "The week before, the academy prospects worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to travel with the first team and get a couple of minutes at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

What was the challenge was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I realized I couldn't establish myself at the top level. I'm extremely thankful for the experience gained but it reached a stage where I felt I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Prior to relocating to Sketty, the young professional was a frequent passenger in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a small coach driven by academy staff, the transport team, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself a teammate, the Brazilian, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to interact with the lads but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

While playing for his former club, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on public transport after beginning his trip at his base. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
