Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for concerns to be asked about his future following another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th defeat in 12 games, marking the team's worst run since being demoted in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and secure a win obviously but when you're in a managerial role and not doing well then it's expected that questions are asked.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the club's leadership, Slot said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular exchanges I sense the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this game yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring failings from his team in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is not good enough. I don't need to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Reds side going through a period such as this with outcomes so bad.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is removed, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to get this team return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
